The department is equipped with highly trained academic and support staff. This goes a long way in ensuring quality training and research in the department. The department recognizes the need of agricultural enterprises to adapt to the changing climatic conditions and therefore, it is striving to streamline its research operations and interests towards creating climate smart farming solutions in order to contribute towards increasing agribusiness productivity and value addition of agricultural products hence global development. The department recognizes the need for partnerships in research and development, therefore it has entered into partnerships and collaborations with several institutions and research organizations. The department also welcomes further collaborations in training and research in the areas of academics and research.
The department has inculcated entrepreneurial thinking and learning in all its courses so as to impart entrepreneurial skills to learners. Despite preparing its graduates for the formal job market, the department is interested producing self-reliant graduates that can as well generate employment opportunities for themselves in the agricultural value chain through the philosophy of competence based education.
